ON THE COURT

 

He paused, waiting for the lob of the next

ball.  Wimbledon had never been like this.

Never!  French tennis was a whole different

ballgame.  First, they required suits and that

despite the extreme sogginess of their courts.

But what bothered him most was all the

floating balls. Well, that and the fact he

couldn't see the lines.  How did he even know

they HAD lines on French courts? He'd had

enough!  He was through! Dripping, he stood,

looked across at his opponent, her decolletage

filling his eyes, and with a grin said softly,

"Love?"  She understood the universal tennis

term immediately.  After all, she WAS French,

was she not?
