"You done yet?" old MacKenzie said, opening the door of

Egan's small cabin.

Without turning his head, Egan replied somewhat curtly,

"You know how long it takes to embroider baby koalas

on saddle leather?"

"Can't say as I do," Mac replied, grinning slightly.

"Mummph," Egan murmured somewhere deep down

in his throat, pricking his finger as he completed the

last fluffy curve of koala ear.
