UPHILL AT DUFF IN AUTUMN

OCTOBER 18, 2008

AFTER WE LEFT THE FARM WHERE I'D BEEN TAKING PICTURES,

WE CONTINUED ON TO DUFF PARK AT THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF

MURRYSVILLE PA, WHICH IS A NATURE TRAIL AREA ON A LARGE

HILL. I'VE DRIVEN PAST IT MANY TIMES BUT HAD NEVER HAD A

CHANCE TO GO UP INTO IT BEFORE. WE PARKED AND AGAIN CARL

STAYED IN THE CAR TO LISTEN TO MUSIC.  I DIDN'T GO TO ANY

TRAILHEAD, BUT JUST TOOK OFF STRAIGHT UPHILL IN FRONT OF

WHERE WE WERE PARKED, AND DIDN'T ENCOUNTER ANY TRAILS

ON MY WAY THROUGH THE WOODS.

I was sitting on this log as I took the picture. There were a lot of nice logs and old stumps in the park.

Still heading upwards!

This mossy log made me think of some primeval creature struggling to reach the lighted area

just up ahead.

I was heading downhill here, getting close again to the small parking area where Carl was in the car.

That's our car just over the log in the exact center of the photograph.
