Subject: vows

Good evening! On behalf of Mark and Karel, I would like to welcome each
and every one of you to this place where we have come to celebrate their
marriage. And to you, Mark and Karel, I am honored, on behalf of all who
are here, to extend to both of you our good wishes, our support, and our
gladness in being here with you at this sacred moment. We would also
like to acknowledge the wider circle of loved ones who have already gon
on to be with the Lord, yet continue forever in their love for Mark and
Karel.

Mark and Karel, where you stand, right here in this room, the ground is
holy ground because God is here and there is no ground where He is not.
You stand here this day in the sight of God and in the presence of your
family and friends to join yourselves in a holy covenant, uniting two
hearts and lives, blending all your interests and hopes, your dreams and
your future. You bring to this relationship all that you have been
before, all that you are, and all that you may be. To everything there
is a season and a time. This is your time to join your lives together,
to take eachother by the hand and travel forward into the future.

Who gives this woman to be married to this man?

Let us pray. Father, we ask that You extend Your hands in blessing and
favor to Mark and Karel on this day as they enter into the sacrament of
marriage. We ask that You grant them this grace whereby each one will
prefer the other's good. May they always be too brave to be unkind. May
each one add their courage to the other. May they always forget what
ought to be forgotten, and recall, unfailing, all that ought to be
recalled. Lord, gift them with patience, gentleness, and tender hearts
for each other. Grant that each one may not so much seek to be consoled
by the other as to console, to be understood as to understand. May each
sow joy in the other's sadness, light in the other's darkness, faith in
the other's doubt. Let them not defer or neglect any kindness, any good
thing they can do for one another. Give them the gift of finding joy
everywhere and leaving it behind them in the hearts of others when they
go. In Jesus' name. Amen.

I would ask you now, Mark and Karel, to face one another, join both
hands, and look into each other's eyes as Mark repeats after me.

Karel, you are my best friend....and the chosen companion of my
heart.....I make you this solemn vow...that I will honor you...trust
you...protect and care for you...I will make your cares my cares...your
sorrows my sorrows...your triumphs my triumphs.....I will grow old
with you....in love and joy....and in all the great things.....life has
to offer....I make a commitment to you......to be faithful to you....to
share with you....my thoughts and feelings....to be by your
side....through life's joys and challenges....I will try always....to be
a good husband to you...you are my home....and I join my life
today....to your life....with gladness....and unending love in my
heart....Karel, I take you now....to be my lawful and wedded wife...in
the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Karel, repeat after me: Mark, you are my best friend....and the chosen
companion....of my heart....I promise you....that whatever comes....I
will remain by your side....to laugh with you....weep with you....and
celebrate with you...I will love you...and be faithful to you....for the
rest of my days....I pledge to stop....and say to you...the things I
feel...in my heart....I will honor...and trust you...with all that I
am....I promise....to do my best....truly to see you...truly to hear
you...and to leave nothing undone....that would brighten your life...or
lighten your load....You bring peace....and direction to my life....You
are my rock...and I join my life today....to your life....with joy and
gladness....in my heart....Mark, I take you now....to be my lawful...and
wedded husband....in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Mark, do you have Karel's ring? I ask the blessing of God our Father
and Jesus our Lord upon the eternal love and the marriage this ring
symbolizes, upon the one who gives it and the one who wears it.

Mark, you may now place this ring on Karel's finger as you repeat after me:
As this ring...with no beginning and no end...encircles your
finger....Karel, never forget....that my love encircles your heart.

Karel, do you have Mark's ring? I ask the blessing of God our Father
and Jesus our Lord upon the eternal love and the marriage this ring
symbolizes, upon the one who gives it and the one who wears it.

Karel, you may now place this ring on Mark's finger as you repeat after me:
As this ring...with no beginning....and no end...encircles your
finger...Mark, never forget...that my love...encircles your heart.

Let us pray. Father, we ask You to send Your blessing upon Mark and
Karel and upon the covenant they have made this day between themselves
in Your sight. Set Your hand upon their hearts and let all they have
seen teach them to trust You for all they have not seen. May each heart
find rest in the other and they come to know a love which has no bound
nor end. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Forasmuch as Mark and Karel have made this solemn covenant of marriage
before God and those of us assembled here, and have given their pledge
and promise each to the other, and have declared the same by the giving
and receiving of rings and the joining of hands, by the power invested
in me by the state of Pennsylvania, I now pronounce that they are
husband and wife in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit. The grace of God attend you, the love of God surround you,
the Holy Spirit keep you.

Mark, you may kiss your bride!
May I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Mark
